Car Hire Excess Insurance

Unfortunately the price you are quoted for your car hire is not the actual total price of the car hire. Many of you will have found this out to your disappointment when you arrive to collect your car hire and find that there is additional charge to be added for CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) which can be very costly double the cost!

For an instant online quote use this LINK

To avoid this you can take out Car Hire Excess Insurance. This insurance will cover you for damage or theft of the vehicle up to the value of £50,000. The insurance covers:

  • Collision Damage reimbursement allowing you to claim back charges in the event of vehicle damage or theft
  • Damages to any part of the vehicle including windows, tyres, lost/stolen keys and undercarriage
  • Misfuelling is covered under Deluxe
  • Hiring anywhere in Europe or Worldwide
  • For frequent car hire clients, we have an Annual multi-trip cover for up to 60 days per rental starting from as little as £41.00, which allows 4 named drivers from the same address
  • Single car hire, daily rates start from £2.30
  • Cross border is covered if allowed on the car hire agreement
  • The insurance also covers motor homes and camper vans
I have successfully used this insurance for some years now and have avoided the excess charges that the companies apply. Be warned they will insist that you are not covered by their own insurance, but you have peace of mind that you are covered in the event of a damaged or stolen vehicle, at an economical rate, not the elevated rates that they charge. ;-)

  1. Thanks for the useful tips. The prices you quoted are for EU/UK residents and it seems that while they offer car hire excess inusrance for non UK residents, the price is much higher.
I found that at www.carinsurent.com non UK residents can purchase international car rental insurance for as low as US$84.90.
